Last night, our hero was lovingly watched over by his cousin Silviana, who came to lend us a hand.
She stayed by his side all night.
And what a champion our Gabriel is: three poops during the night! Our little boy is a real machine!
This morning at 7 AM, he was wide awake: eyes wide open, full of energy, and his complexion even less yellow than in previous days.
His feeding continues to be increased, a sign that his body is regaining strength.
The Dr came by this morning and reduced the oxygen to 30%, as it was already saturating at 100% with 35% (which is perfect).
With a kind smile, she whispered to him: “We’re going to remove that tube!”
Finally, I checked his blood results for the day: everything is improving!
In short, only good news today.

The afternoon was less exciting.
Gabriel seemed uncomfortable and was crying.
What’s strange with an intubated child is that they cry but can’t make any sound because of the tubes.
And he was really inconsolable… it breaks your heart to see him like that.
The doctors performed several examinations to try to understand the cause of this discomfort, and the most likely theory remains the lack of strong medications like morphine (as yesterday).
They tried to increase the dose of methadone, but it wasn’t enough. So they reintroduced morphine, and I imagine they will now reduce the dose more gradually.
Diuretics were also resumed, probably to facilitate the elimination of morphine? (total assumption!?)
Anemia was also detected, and he received a blood transfusion in the afternoon.
He will spend the night next to his mom.
