Two clarifications about this article.
It states that “there are supposedly two cases in France”. That is incorrect. A study by the French network of reference centers for rare respiratory diseases identified 147 children diagnosed in 18 French hospitals between 2017 and 2023. The disease remains rare, and its exact incidence is unknown due to the lack of a European registry, but it affects far more than two children in the country.
The article also places the diagnosis “after five months of intensive care”. Gabriel was diagnosed in late July 2025, after three months in the ICU.
