Two clarifications about this article.
It states that there would be two cases in France. That is inaccurate. A study by the French network of reference centres for rare respiratory diseases counted 147 children diagnosed across 18 French hospitals between 2017 and 2023. The disease remains rare, and its exact incidence is unknown for lack of a European registry, but it affects far more than two children in the country.
The article also places the diagnosis after five months of intensive care. Gabriel was diagnosed at the end of July 2025, after three months in intensive care.
