Stable night, with a transfusion performed during the night.
Manuela was called this morning for a blood test, but we don’t know yet exactly for what purpose.
The ECMO machine was further reduced last night, an encouraging sign that the lungs are gradually starting to take over.
I will keep you informed as soon as I have more news during the day.
And yesterday, we started printing all your messages to paste them on the window. Apparently, the nurses were surprised to see so many messages, especially from “gringos” haha

Update at 1:07 PM
Manuela saw the doctor, who told her that:
1) The functions of the liver and kidneys are lacking, but it is ‘repairable’;
2) The lungs continue to improve, even if they’re not yet at their best
For these two reasons, the ECMO will be removed in the afternoon.
We’re heading for another peak on the roller coaster!
Send us your prayers, your good vibes, your love… anything you can!
We need it!
Update at 5:18 PM
The procedure should start from 5:30 PM (10:30 PM French time), but there will probably be a slight delay (the Beaujolais or Ceará half-hour)
Update at 8:02 PM
The procedure took time to be carried out: authorization from the administration and equipment, although ordered this morning, were missing.
The doctor put pressure on them, we raised our voices… and the operation was finally able to begin around 6:40 PM.
It is 8:03 PM: Gabriel has successfully undergone this operation!
He is no longer on ECMO!
He is now breathing with the help of a standard respiratory device and his lungs, which are functioning again!
This is a huge victory!
A crucial 48-hour period of intensive observation now begins, to see how his body reacts to this transition.
But tonight, we can finally breathe a little easier.
We’ve climbed another mountain!
Gabriel is here, he’s fighting, and he’s moving forward!
Thank you to all those who support us.
Your messages, your prayers, your thoughts… they carry us.
We believe more than ever!
