Gabriel spent part of the night with his mom.
This morning he was awake and calm. He was opening his eyes a little, moving his feet slightly, and seemed serene.
His oxygen saturation varies a lot between 89 and 99, like the day before, but this doesn’t seem too concerning.
The corticosteroid treatment ended last night (3 days).
This morning, the doctor examined Gabriel and noted a clear improvement upon auscultation: air is circulating better in the bronchi, even if it’s not yet perfect.
He is satisfied and confirmed that the objective now is to remove the intubation tube. No date has been announced, it probably won’t be this week.
First step starting today: gradually lower the oxygen concentration (from 28% to 25%) to aim for the natural 21%. This will depend on Gabriel’s reaction.
Next steps envisioned:
- CT scan scheduled for Thursday or Friday.
- Bronchoscopy to see the condition of the bronchi.
- Removal of the tube if possible.
- Tracheotomy mentioned only as a last resort, if necessary.
Conclusion: rather positive discourse from the doctor this morning, with signs of improvement and a plan for gradual removal of heavy equipment.
Fingers crossed!!!!
