Gabriel spent this new night with his cousin Claudilena, who came to support us.
Everything seems to have gone well.
As always, we are waiting for the doctor’s news for today.
6:09 PM
Doctor’s update:
General condition: a bit better than yesterday. He remains fragile, but we observe a gradual improvement
Behavior: still a bit agitated, possibly related to the discontinuation of morphine, but he calms down more easily (especially with head strokes), unlike three days ago.
Breathing: still on oxygen support, unchanged. The goal is to strengthen his muscles so he can breathe on his own and remove the tube as soon as possible, which will reduce the risk of infection.
Feeding: gradually increasing to help him regain strength (currently 20ml / hour)
Medications: morphine and heparin have been discontinued.
Liver: jaundice continues to decrease, even though some liver functions have slightly increased (not concerning at this stage).
Inflammation/infection: slight increase in markers, not serious. This could be due to the central line that has been in place for several days.
– > This central line will be changed tonight to avoid risks of infection or inflammation.
Pulmonary bacteria Stenotrophomonas maltophilia still present, typical of breathing tubes, hence the importance of removing the tube as soon as possible!
Appearance: He is even more beautiful and a bit chubbier, with cheeks that are starting to fill out nicely.
Conclusion
Gabriel is following a slow but positive progression.
He remains very fragile and every step counts.
The team is moving forward cautiously, keeping the goal of removing the tube as soon as he is ready.
