Gabriel spent the night for the first time with his aunt Perla, who arrived yesterday from São Paulo.
Originally, we had planned a vacation together… Fate decided otherwise, but what a joy to see her again!
Thanks to her visit, Gabriel has now met all of his mom’s siblings.
The day went smoothly alongside Manuela.
This morning, I also took on a personal challenge: a 10 km run that I signed up for 5 months ago. It was a breath of fresh air that did me a lot of good, especially mentally!
And this afternoon… a big surprise: Manuela was able to hold Gabriel in her arms for the very first time!
I received a message with a photo of Gabriel in his mother’s arms.
I immediately rushed to the hospital to see it with my own eyes, and I managed to spend a few seconds watching them both by sneaking past security at the entrance.
Gabriel hadn’t been in our arms since May 3rd.
What a moment! Pure joy!

Later, I was also able to hold him in my arms. He fell asleep like a baby and didn’t move for over an hour.
Once back in his bed, he had a slight fever (37.5°C / 99.5°F). They explain this by the warmth of our arms, but also by the discontinuation of several medications, which can cause withdrawal effects.
Finally, his machine was set to manual mode for respiratory rate. In this mode, Gabriel controls his own breathing, without an imposed minimum frequency.
They are gradually preparing him for tube removal!
