The first time I saw you was at the hospital. You were so tiny and covered in tubes… I was so shocked… how could a little being like you live through such a horror… your tiny, transparent hand and your silent cries… I will never forget that… no question of touching you… I talked to you… I told you about life… hoping that one day you could enjoy it… I wouldn’t wish that on anyone…
Your mom and dad were there constantly, they fought like lions (in fact, that became your mascot). This unbearable period lasted 4 months… this ordeal is far too long… I only stayed for a month, but it will remain etched in my memory, my little love…
On December 16, my second encounter with you… my little love… despite the mask, the gown, and the thing on my head, to top it all off, your beautiful and wonderful smile melted my heart, and also your gaze, your big eyes so curious about everything… but what a joy to see you like that… of course, there’s still the tube and oxygen, but you are here… courageous, proud, beautiful as a god… I don’t have enough words to explain this encounter… you are an extraordinary baby, you keep fighting, you smile constantly despite all the treatments still very present… your schedule is overloaded… you barely have time to sleep… it’s non-stop… but what pride for a grandma to see you making astonishing progress, you never stop…
While I was there, your tube got blocked, and just like that, you managed without it… you eat very well, and my God, seeing you hold the spoon with your chubby little hand, it’s incredible… honestly, you are the bravest little baby on Earth… my stay was short, but celebrating your first Christmas with you was incredibly intense… it will remain a very, very sweet memory…
I wanted to tell you that your mom and dad are exceptional parents… I am so grateful and proud that they are my children… and I also wanted to tell you that you are the love of my life… Grandma loves you infinitely… keep going, my love, you’re going to amaze everyone… I’ll see you soon… we’ll meet again soon…
