Tras una agresi\u00f3n a los pulmones, las v\u00edas respiratorias m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as, los bronquiolos, <strong>se inflaman y luego cicatrizan estrech\u00e1ndose u obstruy\u00e9ndose<\/strong>. El aire pasa peor, sobre todo al espirar, y <strong>estas lesiones son, por lo general, definitivas<\/strong>.<\/p><p>No hay que confundirla con la <em>bronquiolitis<\/em> del lactante, muy frecuente cada invierno y que suele curarse en unos d\u00edas. persisten:<\/p><ul style=\"margin:0 0 1.3em;padding-left:1.2em\"><li style=\"margin-bottom:.45em\"><strong>una tos y unas sibilancias que no desaparecen<\/strong>;<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom:.45em\">dificultad para respirar, respiraci\u00f3n r\u00e1pida, cansancio con el esfuerzo o durante las comidas;<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom:.45em\"><strong>una necesidad de ox\u00edgeno que se prolonga<\/strong>;<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom:.45em\">infecciones respiratorias repetidas y dificultad para ganar peso.<\/li><\/ul><p>Estos signos se parecen a los del asma, y la enfermedad <strong>se confunde a menudo con un asma<\/strong> al principio. La diferencia: <strong>los tratamientos habituales del asma alivian poco<\/strong>. La biopsia pulmonar rara vez es necesaria. Las zonas m\u00e1s oscuras corresponden a atrapamiento a\u00e9reo, junto a zonas m\u00e1s claras: es este aspecto irregular lo que los m\u00e9dicos llaman \u00abpatr\u00f3n en mosaico\u00bb.
