Hello, son,<\/p>\n\n

Today, I absolutely have to write to you to tell you something important:<\/p>\n\n

This time, it\u2019s happening! <\/p>\n\n

Your Grandpa Robert has just set off on an extraordinary challenge: 925 km by bike, from Belleville-en-Beaujolais to Nice, crossing the Alps, solo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

He spent a huge amount of time preparing for this challenge. <\/p>\n\n

Months of preparation, thinking, organizing, and also communication so this project could come to life.<\/p>\n\n

And today was the big departure!<\/p>\n\n

Your Grandpa first stopped by Cr\u00e9dit Agricole in Belleville-en-Beaujolais, a partner of the challenge, then he joined Grandma Michelle and all his friends who came to help sell the paella Christine prepared in front of the Belleville Carrefour.<\/p>\n\n

More than 200 portions of paella were sold<\/strong> and around 100 people were there for the big departure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

With your mom and you, we were able to watch him leave on video.<\/p>\n\n

And it felt really strange.<\/p>\n\n

We would have loved so much to be there, next to Grandpa, to cheer him on and see him set off.<\/p>\n\n

But we were here, in Brazil, the three of us.<\/p>\n\n

And when we saw him leave, we had tears in our eyes.<\/p>\n\n

Because deep down, behind this sporting challenge, there\u2019s so much more.<\/p>\n\n

Everything Grandpa, your family, and people are doing for you.<\/p>\n\n

Everything we\u2019ve been through.<\/p>\n\n

Everything we hope for your future.<\/p>\n\n

So even from several thousand kilometers away, we wanted to show him we were with him.<\/p>\n\n

And you too, buddy, you\u2019re taking part in your own way.<\/p>\n\n

You had your little sign \u201cGo Grandpa Robert!\u201d<\/strong> to cheer on your Grandpa and support him from afar.<\/p>\n\n

And even if you couldn\u2019t be there to see him leave, you were with him.<\/p>\n\n

We feel that sense of helplessness, not being able to be there in person.<\/p>\n\n

But at the same time, we feel so much gratitude.<\/p>\n\n

Gratitude for everything your grandparents do for you.<\/p>\n\n

For everything your family does.<\/p>\n\n

And for everyone who, near or far, supports us in this journey.<\/p>\n\n

The story has been picked up by newspapers in France, Brazil, and even on TV.<\/p>\n\n

Your Grandpa even went on a TV set for the first time in his life!<\/p>\n\n

You know, buddy, we\u2019re doing all this for one very simple reason: to make sure your rare disease is no longer rare.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

So that the next families who face this disease, somewhere in the world, won\u2019t end up alone like we sometimes were.<\/p>\n\n

And guess what?<\/p>\n\n

It\u2019s working<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n

Since we started talking about your illness and bronchiolitis obliterans, we\u2019ve already met 3 families: one in France, one in Canada, and one in Colombia.<\/p>\n\n

Three families who now know they\u2019re not completely alone anymore.<\/p>\n\n

And maybe tomorrow, there will be even more.<\/p>\n\n

\n And together, we\u2019ll find solutions!<\/strong>\n <\/p>\n\n

I hope that when you read this text, your illness will no longer be an issue in your life.<\/p>\n\n

I hope with all my heart that you\u2019ll simply be a big boy who\u2019s grown up, running around everywhere, getting into mischief, and not even thinking anymore about everything we went through.<\/p>\n\n

In the next few days, Grandpa Robert will definitely struggle at times.<\/p>\n\n

He\u2019ll have to climb some of the highest mountain passes in the Alps.<\/p>\n\n

He\u2019ll probably have sore legs, he\u2019ll be tired, and he may sometimes wonder why he started this adventure.<\/p>\n\n

But he planned his little good-luck charm.<\/p>\n\n

Since then, time has passed.<\/p>\n\n

And you know what, buddy?<\/p>\n\n

We did it<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n

We have NEVER gone back to the ICU! Or to the hospital! <\/p>\n\n

And even if the road is still long, the three of us have come an incredible distance!<\/p>\n\n

So always remember what your Grandpa is showing you today.<\/p>\n\n

You have to keep moving forward.<\/p>\n\n

Even when the road is hard.<\/p>\n\n

Even when the mountain seems huge.<\/p>\n\n

Even when you don\u2019t know exactly how far you\u2019ll be able to go.<\/p>\n\n

You always have to keep moving forward.<\/p>\n\n
