As I’ve already told you, the therapist supporting us through this ordeal once told me :<\/a><\/p>\n\n

\n \u201cA tired man can still go far.\u201d<\/em>\n <\/p>\n\n

I often repeat this phrase to myself when things get difficult.<\/p>\n\n

But he hadn’t foreseen one thing.<\/p>\n\n

What happens when a tired man meets a tired woman, haha!<\/p>\n\n

With your mom, we’ve been through a turbulent time.<\/p>\n\n

Probably not the first. Probably not the last. <\/p>\n\n

Relationships are among the most complex things life gives us to understand.<\/p>\n\n

But the main thing is elsewhere today:<\/p>\n\n

the storm seems to have passed, and we have learned.<\/p>\n\n

We’ve redistributed roles to prevent everything from falling apart.<\/p>\n\n

I’m now in charge of communication with healthcare services.<\/p>\n\n

Your mom, she watches over you even more.<\/p>\n\n

And believe me, no one watches like a mother!<\/p>\n\n

Let’s be honest: we’re still struggling to get you to eat.<\/p>\n\n

Every meal is a battle. <\/p>\n\n

Sometimes an hour for a few spoonfuls gained.<\/p>\n\n

We know that every bite is important for your development.<\/p>\n\n

You absolutely must gain weight, as you are at the tolerable limit.<\/p>\n\n

And in the distance, there’s this possibility we want to avoid, that of gastrostomy (a kind of tube in the stomach).<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Tomorrow, your pediatrician is coming. We’ll see. <\/p>\n\n

\n Last week reminded us of one thing<\/strong>\n <\/h3>\n\n

Your breathing was worse.<\/p>\n\n

You had a fever.<\/p>\n\n

Your saturation has dropped again.<\/p>\n\n

An X-ray showed inflammation in part of your lungs.<\/p>\n\n

Tests suggested a virus.<\/p>\n\n

And that brought us back to that fear we know too well.<\/p>\n\n

Then, slowly, your condition stabilized.<\/p>\n\n

Today, you seem to be doing better.<\/p>\n\n

Because we know how fragile your lungs are, fear is never far away.<\/p>\n\n

We will have to learn to live with it without letting it control our lives.<\/p>\n\n

A difficult, but necessary, balance.<\/p>\n\n

\n Chronic vs. Future<\/strong>\n <\/h3>\n\n

Your mom and I went to see our friend, the therapist.<\/p>\n\n

He too has been through storms with his daughter, and his words carry particular weight.<\/p>\n\n

He pointed out something essential to us: your condition is chronic and long-term.<\/p>\n\n

There is no finish line.<\/p>\n\n

There’s no break.<\/p>\n\n

It’s been almost nine months that we’ve been moving forward without really stopping.<\/p>\n\n

So, to stay mentally strong, his advice is simple:<\/p>\n\n

Don’t live in the future.<\/strong>Even less in the past.<\/strong>Live day by day.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Easy to hear.<\/p>\n\n

Much harder to do.<\/p>\n\n

Your mom and I are entrepreneurs. We live by what we create. <\/p>\n\n

Our driving force has always been dreams.<\/p>\n\n

And dreams look towards tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n

Learning to build for the long term without projecting too far for ourselves\u2026<\/p>\n\n

This is the new balance we must find.<\/p>\n\n

I had printed a vision board of everything we would do together.<\/p>\n\n

I tore it up in a moment of nervousness.<\/p>\n\n

It put more pressure on me than motivation.<\/p>\n\n

So I’m going to try a different way now.<\/p>\n\n

New goal: live each day as a whole life.<\/p>\n\n
