I\u2019ve decided to change the way I write.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From today on, I\u2019m going to write to you<\/strong>, Gabriel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Should you want it one day, this blog will be a record of what happened when you were a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So here we go, my filho!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The weekend went pretty well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You still gave us a few scares, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Especially on Friday, when we found out you had blood in your eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Your slightly crazy parents immediately thought it might be linked to the fact that you were on ECMO a few months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But after consulting a pediatrician online, it seems it was a small hemorrhage, a blood vessel that burst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Either because you had strained a lot that morning with all the specialists, or because the feeding tube taped to your face had been pulled a bit too hard, which may have pulled your eyelid down too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This tube really makes our lives complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We would so love to be able to take it out, but the road still seems long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some specialists say you should go back to the bottle despite the risk of aspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Others think you\u2019ll go straight to the spoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And others still talk about a gastrostomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Your mom and I are a bit lost, but we\u2019re convinced of one thing: the sooner you get rid of this tube, the better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yesterday, you tried to talk and your throat seemed to hurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because of this tube? I don\u2019t know\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n But you started screaming until you collapsed from exhaustion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, the organization that is supposed to help us has decided to refuse to pay for the genetic test that an infectious disease specialist, a geneticist and the Brazilian and French doctors all consider essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s called Exome<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Somewhere in their grand legal texts, they found a way of saying it wasn\u2019t their responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Apart from that, even though not a day goes by without us crying, your mom and I still try to have some good moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We even laugh again sometimes, occasionally with a bit of dark humor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I think it makes us stronger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also, yesterday the three of us spent time together, especially in front of that mirror you love looking into so much. You seem to love it when we sing and act like total goofballs. So every day, your mom and I try to be creative and take you on a journey through music.
