After 90 days in intensive care, Gabriel is finally out of the ICU!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaving was very, very, very<\/strong> emotional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are endlessly happy to finally be together, just the three of us, in a room all to ourselves, without the beep beep<\/em> of the machines every five seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new life begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little by little, we are getting back to our role as parents: changing his diapers, giving him his bath, watching over him\u2026 like a real family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel still has a small nasal cannula and is getting 1 L\/min of oxygen (the equivalent of 26% inspired oxygen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His saturation stays at 100% when he is asleep. When he is awake and agitated, it can drop as low as 89%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He still has his PICC line in his neck (a central catheter for giving medication), as well as a nasogastric tube for feeding. He is currently getting 47 ml of milk per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The staff are taking wonderful care of him<\/strong>, nothing like our first experience in a regular room before he went into the ICU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The room is comfortable: a little couch, a sofa, a mini fridge, a TV, a bathroom with a toilet\u2026 A real little VIP cocoon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this time, we can take photos and videos, and even work quietly next to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We expect to stay here for at least a month, maybe two. The goal is to continue his treatment. Gabriel will probably receive a third round of pulse therapy<\/strong> within four weeks, and he gets at least three physical therapy sessions a day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonight, his mom has finally been able to get some well-deserved rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are watching over him with his auntie Jaqueline, who is holding him in her arms right now\u2026 and he seems to love it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
