Gabriel was stable, with a good saturation and only 1L of oxygen, as usual. But the situation changed after the nightly routine changes. The UTI was closed, so I stayed out for about 2 hours. When I returned, I discovered that oxygen had been increased to 5L, a level not seen since extubation.

I immediately asked why. The nurse replied that she didn’t know and asked me to wait.

I was taken out of the room during the blood tests. With no chair available, I tried to sleep on the floor as anxiety mounted. I’ve hardly slept for several nights now.

Tired of waiting, I try to ring the intercom, once, twice and then three times. I ask her if they’ve managed to find out what’s going on with Gabriel. She replies that they don’t know….

That was one mistake too many. I exploded. I screamed. I told them everything. Because it’s unacceptable, after three months in hospital, that we still don’t know what we’re doing to our son.

Today, I haven’t set foot in the hospital again. Manuela courageously took over.

We’ll be filing a new official claim. Fifth or sixth, I think?

(never come to this hospital)

For the rest of the day Gabriel remained stable.

Today another child is gone… which breaks our hearts every time.

We’re expecting a visit from the pneumologist tomorrow, which may give us more precise news about what’s to come.

We can’t wait to get the hell out of here!

Also without transition: we have to give back our current apartment at the end of August. If you know of an apartment in Fortaleza with two bedrooms, not too dangerous a neighborhood, no humidity (important for Gabriel when he gets out), and if possible with parking, please contact me.

Thank you for your support

The night had started well.
