It was a quiet night. Gabriel slept a lot, helped by the sedatives (notably Precedex) that were still accompanying him while his body slowly adapted to the removal of the breathing tube. <\/p>\n\n
Good news: he had no fever and peed.<\/p>\n\n
Manuela was able to hold him for half an hour, a precious moment of tenderness and comfort for them both.<\/p>\n\n
The doctor told us they’re continuing to increase the amount of food. And he’s peed a few times, which is a good sign! <\/p>\n\n
Gabriel’s condition remains fairly stable, with no fever.<\/p>\n\n
This afternoon, I had the chance to hold him in my arms for over an hour. He got a little hot, and I had to leave the room a bit hastily for reasons I didn’t understand at the time (nothing to do with Gabriel). <\/p>\n\n
So I left a little stressed, leaving him with the caregiver we trust, but not really knowing how he was doing after that.<\/p>\n\n
Later I learned in the hallway that the electrical outlets behind a patient’s wall had all become electrically disconnected! (unbelievable!!!) <\/p>\n\n
UTI reopened at 6pm, and Gabriel was a bit agitated with tatichardy. <\/p>\n\n
The orderly told me that he had been crying, but that he didn’t have a fever. They gave him dipyrone just in case, to relieve any pain, and continue the sedatives to calm him down. <\/p>\n\n
I’m writing these last lines while he’s with his mom. By the way, today was Manuela’s birthday! <\/p>\n\n
This morning, we “celebrated” over breakfast with some of the family (Manuela’s sister) from S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n\n
It’s good to see family and spend time together.<\/p>\n\n
We’ve just learned that his temperature is 38.7…<\/p>\n\n
The department head told us not to worry. He’ll have a battery of tests early tomorrow… <\/p>\n\n
The temperature came down to 37.3\u00b0C. The doctor explained that this fever spike could be linked to the dipyrone taken, which raises the fever for a short time. Gabriel remains quite agitated, with tachycardia at 205. As a precaution, she decided to bring forward the blood tests and also to take a blood culture. They’ll be taking samples shortly.
